2. Authentic Accommodation Reviews by Korean

Now, let’s get into the real-deal accommodation reviews of Shilla Stay Jeju. I’ll be sharing with you the nitty-gritty of reviews left by actual Korean guests who’ve stayed in the hotel.

2.1. Review 1 : Great location and breakfast, but noise issues and a midnight call made it less restful.

What It Was Like Staying at Shilla Stay Jeju

THere’s a detailed review of my real, self-paid stay at Shilla Stay Jeju (Yeon-dong branch). The hotel is well-located on a main road in Jeju City, close to restaurants and with a direct airport bus stop right in front—making it ideal for business travelers or short stays.

I booked a Deluxe Double Room, which was upgraded for free through a promotion. The room size was standard (25.2㎡), equipped with a double bed, sofa, desk, and TV. The bed was comfortably soft, and the sofa added extra relaxation. The bathroom was clean, had a bathtub, and included local Jeju-brand amenities, though the toothbrush set was charged separately (KRW 1,000).

Despite requesting a quieter room, I was placed on the construction-facing side, which caused some daytime noise. The major issue was a midnight phone call from the front desk regarding a noise complaint—although it wasn’t my room, the call disrupted my sleep, which felt disappointing at a hotel that should offer restful stays.

On the brighter side, breakfast at the 12th-floor lounge was a pleasant surprise. While not an extravagant spread, the quality of dishes was high: seaweed soup, omelet, pho, dim sum, and tofu tenders all tasted great. I usually skip hotel breakfasts due to lack of flavor or heaviness, but this one felt well-balanced and satisfying.

Lastly, a free draft beer coupon was offered for the lounge, but the area was too crowded to enjoy. Overall, while the food and service stood out, noise-related interruptions were a letdown for an otherwise solid stay.

Bullet-point Summary

  • Location: Convenient, with airport bus stop and many restaurants nearby
  • Room: Deluxe Double – clean, cozy, suitable for solo or double occupancy
  • Bathroom: Includes tub; local brand amenities; toothbrush is extra charge
  • Downside: Noise from construction; midnight front desk call broke sleep
  • Breakfast: 12th floor lounge; compact but quality menu; standout dishes: seaweed soup, omelet, pho, dim sum
  • Bonus: Free draft beer coupon (lounge may be crowded)

2.2. Review 2 : Great gym and rooftop lounge, but poor breakfast seat placement made the experience less enjoyable.

What It Was Like Staying at Shilla Stay Jeju

Here’s my personal review of the amenities at Shilla Stay Jeju, which I fully utilized during my solo stay — the rooftop lounge bar, fitness center, and breakfast lounge.

The rooftop lounge bar (12F, 20:00–01:00) came with a free beer coupon at check-in. I opted for takeout as I was staying alone, and the dim lighting and cozy ambiance made it feel classy. It would be perfect for couples, but even solo guests can enjoy the vibe comfortably.

The fitness center (3F, 06:00–23:00) exceeded expectations. It was spacious, well-equipped, and had a full set of dumbbells for strength training. Although the elevator to the 3rd floor was under maintenance, requiring guests to walk down from the 5th floor, the clean and practical setup—with free towels and water—made up for it.

Breakfast (12F, 06:30–09:30 on weekdays) was surprisingly crowded, and the seat placement was a major drawback. Despite being alone, I was placed right in front of a dish disposal area, which made eating uncomfortable. I ended up looking at my phone the entire time to avoid seeing the waste bin.

In terms of food, the menu was simple but solid, with salads, Korean dishes, yogurt, dim sum, bread, and more. The highlight was definitely the pho, which was rich and flavorful—so good that I went back for seconds. The pineapple was also sweet and refreshing, perfect for dessert.

Overall, the amenities were enjoyable and worth checking out, especially the gym and lounge bar. However, if you plan to eat breakfast, request a better seat in advance if you’re particular about your dining view. Breakfast is worth it if included, but might not be essential to add as an extra.

Bullet-point Summary

  • Rooftop Lounge Bar: Stylish, dimly lit, takeout available, best for couples but fine solo
  • Gym: Spacious, full equipment set, clean, towel/water provided, elevator under maintenance
  • Breakfast Lounge: Decent variety; pho and pineapple stood out in flavor
  • Downside: Poor seat placement for solo diner—viewed trash station during meal
  • Verdict: Recommended for gym/lounge, breakfast optional unless included
