2. Authentic Accommodation Reviews by Korean

Now, let’s get into the real-deal accommodation reviews of Metro Hotel Myeongdong. I’ll be sharing with you the nitty-gritty of reviews left by actual Korean guests who’ve stayed in the hotel.

2.1. Review 1 : “Great value and unbeatable location in Myeongdong – unless you’re sensitive to noise.”

What It Was Like Staying at Metro Hotel Myeongdong

Looking back at my own review, Metro Hotel Myeongdong turned out to be a great value-for-money stay right in the heart of Seoul. Though the hotel has been around since the 1960s, it’s well-renovated and clean, with a prime location just a short walk from Myeongdong Station and the main shopping street.

I stayed in Room 511 with a queen-sized bed. The room was cool and cozy upon arrival, which was a huge relief from the humid summer heat. The furnishings were practical — including a bar-style desk, convenient power outlets near the bed, and a storage basket for luggage. The bathroom was clean and spacious, although it lacked conditioner, so bring your own.

The biggest downside was the noisy air conditioning unit and its bright light, which could be bothersome for light sleepers. Also, some hallway noise made its way into the room, and the lighting system only had two basic modes.

Still, the affordable pricing, comfortable bedding, and convenient surroundings made the stay worthwhile. With a Starbucks and 7-Eleven on the ground floor, everything I needed was within reach. I’d definitely consider staying again when visiting Myeongdong.

Bullet Point Summary

Pros

  • Excellent central location in Myeongdong, easy walk to subway
  • Renovated, clean interiors
  • Practical amenities: bar desk, charging outlets, luggage basket
  • Clean, spacious bathroom
  • Starbucks and convenience store downstairs

Cons

No conditioner provided

Noisy air conditioner with bright LED

Hallway noise can leak into the room

Limited lighting control

Metro Hotel Myeongdong Reviews

2.2. Review 2 : A clean, convenient, and budget-friendly hotel in the heart of Myeongdong – ideal for travelers!

What It Was Like Staying at Metro Hotel Myeongdong

I summarized my personal stay at Metro Hotel Myeongdong during a winter trip to Seoul. The hotel is tucked inside a quiet alley just 3 minutes on foot from Myeongdong’s main street — safe even at night, which is likely why many foreign tourists stay here.

The hotel’s 1st floor connects to both Starbucks and a 7-Eleven, offering easy access to snacks and coffee. On the 2nd floor, there’s a terrace, smoking lounge, printer, and even a free massage chair, perfect after a long day of sightseeing.

Check-in is at 3 PM, and check-out is at 11 AM. We arrived early and had no issues storing our luggage. The room was spotless, with the housekeeper and inspector’s names noted for added trust. The room included amenities like slippers, robes, water bottles, a hair dryer, and an electric kettle. While there was no bathtub, the shower area was spacious and clean.

Toothbrushes weren’t provided (can be bought at the front desk for 1,000 KRW), and there was no conditioner — so bring your own. The 2nd floor has a microwave, and the 7th floor offers a coin laundry room.

I especially appreciated the sunny work desk space and the bedside outlets, which made charging my phone overnight super convenient. Overall, this hotel provided a comfortable and functional space with an unbeatable location. I would definitely consider staying here again.

Bullet Point Summary

Pros

  • Central location, 3-min walk to Myeongdong main street
  • Safe, quiet area even at night
  • Starbucks and 7-Eleven connected on 1st floor
  • 2F terrace, massage chair, printer
  • Clean rooms, sunny desk area, good Wi-Fi
  • Bedside power outlets, convenient for charging
  • Luggage storage available before check-in

Cons

No bathtub (shower only)

No free toothbrush (can purchase for 1,000 KRW)

No conditioner provided
